Job Description

About Nexus Mods

Established in 2001, Nexus Mods is the largest video game modding platform on the internet—a household name in the PC gaming ecosystem.

  • 71M+ registered members
  • 800K+ mods for 3,500+ games
  • 21B+ mod downloads

We’re currently focused on product modernisation, driving growth and building infrastructure for the next 10 years of community-powered modding.

Our Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who’s excited about growth and has a track record of making a real, measurable impact at scale. You’ll lead design work across key growth initiatives, shaping experiences that improve acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and long-term retention across both web and app.

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to spot high-impact opportunities, form clear hypotheses, and design, test, and refine solutions that move both user and business metrics. This is a hands-on, craft-driven role for someone who cares deeply about the details, thinks in systems, and designs for real, working software — not just polished concepts.

The role sits at the intersection of user-centered design, strategy, and problem-solving. You’ll use data and research to uncover insights, simplify complex flows, advocate for users, and help teams learn and ship through experimentation and iteration.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Location: Remote, but within the UK

Please note: We are unable to sponsor international visas at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for growth initiatives across our ecosystem, including desktop and app experiences.
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities across the full user lifecycle using research, analysis, and product intuition.
  • Define, design, and iterate on experiments that improve activation, engagement, retention, and long-term value.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Community to shape strategy, define hypotheses, and measure impact.
  • Turn complex systems and constraints into intuitive, scalable, and accessible experiences.
  • Move comfortably from low-fidelity exploration to high-fidelity, production-ready designs and interactive prototypes (code-based prototyping is a plus).
  • Contribute to and evolve our design systems to support consistency, speed, and scale as the product grows.
  • Act as a design leader within cross-functional teams by offering thoughtful critique, mentorship, and clear direction.
  • Engage directly with the modding community to understand creator and user needs, motivations, and pain points,  and turn those insights into product decisions.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in product design, UX/UI, or growth-focused design roles, with increasing ownership and scope.
  • A strong portfolio that shows user-centered thinking, strategic problem-solving, and measurable product impact.
  • Experience designing consumer-facing digital products; familiarity with UGC platforms or creator ecosystems is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex workflows and systems into clear, approachable experiences.
  • High proficiency with Figma and modern design workflows.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and product teams in agile, cross-functional environments.
  • A solid understanding of how design decisions affect metrics, performance, and long-term product health.
  • Experience designing for both web and desktop.
  • Comfortable collaborating with engineers and using prototypes (Framer, Lovable, Cursor, Figma, or code) to communicate and validate ideas.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and will use your initiative to push projects forward.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working in revenue, growth acquisition, or conversion focused product areas.
  • Familiarity with GitLab for issue tracking and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of game modding and familiarity with Nexus Mods.

Benefits

  • We work a 4-day week of 32 hours, with no reduction in pay.
  • An allowance of £25 each month to spend on video games (anything required for work is bought by the business!).
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Private BUPA healthcare for you and your family.
  • A very flexible training budget.
  • Regular social events throughout the year. Participation is optional!
