Key Account Manager – Automotive Electrical Distribution (Southeast Michigan)
Are you an experienced commercial leader within the automotive sector and ready to make a strategic next move? We are representing an industry-leading manufacturer specialising in ancillary components for electrical distribution solutions, serving top OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Due to rapid growth and team expansion, our client is seeking a Key Account Manager to take ownership of one of their largest and most strategic Tier 1 accounts in Southeast Michigan.
What Youll Be Doing:
Manage a major, well-established Tier 1 automotive account with a focus on both account growth and new business generation (including RFQs and identifying new opportunities)
Serve as the primary interface with the customer, balancing account management and proactive sales development
Build strong cross-functional relationships, operating between commercial and application engineering teams internally, and collaborating with client engineering and purchasing teams
Lead contract renewals, resolve commercial issues, and negotiate agreements
Work remotely from a home office, but must be located within 45-60 minutes of Detroit (with regular customer site visits, no central office)
What Were Looking For:
10+ years' experience in automotive, managing complex customer relationships at the OEM or Tier 1 level
Strong background in electrical distribution systems preferred.
Degree preferred (engineering ideal, other relevant disciplines considered for candidates with deep experience)
Demonstrated ability to balance commercial priorities and technical (application engineering) understanding
Self-driven, hands-on mindset with a track record of developing new business as well as nurturing key customer relationships
The Package:
Salary: $125,000 base (potential flexibility for exceptional candidates)
Bonus: Annual incentive and profit sharing
