Emerald Zebra

Front-End Developer (FinTech), Hybrid/Remote, Limassol

Job Description

Emerald Zebra is partnering with a well-established FinTech company to find an experienced Front-End Developer who can take ownership of their marketing websites and landing pages. This is a hands-on role for someone who writes clean, production-ready code — not someone who relies on page builders or one-click templates.  You can join the company at their Limassol, Cyprus office on a hybrid basis or work on a remote basis if not based in Cyprus.

You will build and maintain fast, accessible, secure, and compliant marketing websites and landing pages in a regulated financial services environment. From converting Figma designs into pixel-perfect responsive pages to engineering custom WordPress themes and blocks, this role demands genuine front-end craftsmanship combined with a strong understanding of performance, security, and accessibility.

If you take pride in semantic HTML, fluid typography, Core Web Vitals scores, and clean Git history — and you want to do that inside a fast-moving FinTech — we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

Build & Convert

  • Build marketing websites and high-converting landing pages end to end — ensuring everything loads perfectly, fast, and without issues
  • Convert Figma designs into responsive, component-based pages with semantic HTML, modern CSS (Flex/Grid), and progressive enhancement
  • Create reusable components (buttons, forms, accordions, tabs, pricing tables) with props and variants for rapid iteration

WordPress Engineering

  • Develop custom WordPress themes/child themes and Gutenberg blocks or ACF-based components — no one-click templates
  • Implement clean theme architecture: proper enqueue, template parts, functions.php hygiene, and a minimal, audited plugin set
  • Create custom post types, taxonomies, and fields; author editor-friendly block patterns and style guide pages

Performance & Accessibility

  • Hit Core Web Vitals targets: image optimisation (next-gen formats), critical CSS, code splitting, and caching strategy
  • Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA alignment: keyboard navigation, focus states, ARIA where appropriate, colour contrast, and readable structure
  • Maintain technical SEO hygiene: logical headings, metadata, schema markup, clean URLs, and no duplicate content

Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with IT on SSL/TLS, DNS, CDN/WAF, IP blocking/geofencing, rate limiting, and bot mitigation
  • Enforce least-privilege WordPress roles, secure file permissions, and regular updates/patching
  • Implement privacy-aware cookie consent and content controls suitable for a regulated financial environment

Integration & Workflow

  • Integrate forms and CRM with server-side validation, spam protection (honeypot/reCAPTCHA), and privacy-first settings
  • Maintain Git workflow: feature branches, PR reviews, CI/CD from staging to production, and clear release notes
  • Use AI tools (Copilot/ChatGPT) for boilerplate, refactors, and QA checklists — not as a substitute for code quality or reviews
  • Add lightweight monitoring (uptime/error reporting), log critical errors, and document runbooks for backup/restore and rollback

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of front-end experience with WordPress as a primary CMS
  • Strong HTML5/CSS3 (SCSS or utility CSS welcome) and vanilla JS/ES6+ — able to code without page builders or templates
  • Custom WP engineering: themes, hooks/filters, Gutenberg or ACF Blocks, CPTs/taxonomies/fields, and editor-friendly patterns
  • Confident Figma code: design tokens, spacing scales, fluid typography, and asset optimisation
  • Performance & accessibility mindset: Core Web Vitals and WCAG 2.1 AA experience
  • Security literacy: WAF/CDN basics, IP rules, headers, patching, and experience working with IT teams
  • Git, PR reviews, and CI/CD: comfortable documenting decisions and maintaining runbooks
  • CRM/form integration: validation, consent management, and spam controls
  • AI-assisted development: experience with Copilot/ChatGPT while maintaining privacy and code quality guardrails

Nice to Have

  • Multilingual sites: WPML/Polylang, hreflang, and RTL support
  • Cloudflare: rules, WAF, and Workers
  • Headless/decoupled WordPress: REST API or GraphQL experience
  • Regulated industry background: finance, fintech, or performance marketing teams

Education

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or a portfolio demonstrating equivalent expertise

What's On Offer:

  • Competitive salary package based on experience and qualifications (EUR 35,000 - 45,000 gross/year)
  • Performance-based bonus potential
  • Opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking work culture
  • 22 days of annual leave
  • Comprehensive medical insurance from day one
  • Gym membership subsidy
  • Various other perks
