Python Platform Engineer (TakeUp)

Job Description

About Us

TakeUp, LLC is revolutionizing revenue optimization for hospitality with a daring approach to pricing. Using AI and machine learning, TakeUp empowers independent operators to unlock maximum revenue potential through pricing courageous – day in, day out. Seamlessly integrated with top Property Management Systems, our platform replaces traditional rate-setting constraints with data-driven confidence, delivering an impressive 10-15x ROI.

The Opportunity

Our customer-facing product is only half the story. Behind the scenes, we rely on a growing suite of data-powered internal tools and services that enable our Revenue Strategy and Customer Success teams to move fast and make confident decisions.

You’ll own this internal tooling layer end-to-end–ideating, building, and shipping data-backed systems ranging from pipelines and APIs to lightweight internal applications–while collaborating with platform engineers whenever your work touches shared services.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own Python-based internal tools and services that power pricing workflows, diagnostics, and AI-assisted rate reviews
  • Own and maintain performant SQL data models for downstream tools and analyses; familiarity with dbt or similar modeling frameworks is a plus
  • Develop and automate data pipelines and jobs (e.g., Prefect or similar) so the right data is available at the right time
  • Partner closely with Customer Success and Revenue Strategy to scope problems, iterate on solutions, and ship improvements
  • Own your work from initial scoping through production delivery, including testing, deployment, and iteration
  • Collaborate with platform engineers when work touches shared infrastructure or core services
  • Help improve engineering practices around reliability, observability, and documentation within the internal tools space

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong Python experience building production data or data-powered apps
  • Deep SQL proficiency–you’re comfortable modeling data, writing complex queries, and reasoning about performance
  • 0–1 ownership experience: you’ve taken loosely defined problems, shaped solutions, and shipped them in a startup or small-team environment
  • Comfort working across the stack as needed–you don’t need to be a frontend or data-viz specialist, but you can build pragmatic UIs or interfaces when the problem calls for it
  • Experience working closely with non-technical partners and translating real-world needs into technical solution
  • Bias toward action, iteration, and learning in imperfect environments

Nice to have (but not required):

  • Familiarity with dbt, Prefect, or modern data tooling
  • Experience supporting internal or customer-facing operational teams
  • Exposure to ML systems or model outputs (not building models, but working with their data)

Why Join Us

  • Real ownership & impact: you’ll be responsible for systems that are used daily by our internal teams.
  • Autonomy with support: clear problems to solve, freedom in how you solve them, and partners who value engineering judgment.
  • Startup growth curve: meaningful technical problems without big-company process overhead.
  • Learning culture: progress over perfection, thoughtful retros, and room to grow with the role.

Travel

This role is remote. While flexibility is key, we value in-person connection. Occasional travel may be needed for customer discovery, team collaboration, or team events.
