UX Designer

Job Description

What you’ll do

• Contribute to the end-to-end user experience for StoryToys apps, working from early ideas through launch and iteration. You’ll help ensure experiences are intuitive, age-appropriate, fun, and safe for children.
• Design clear interaction flows and interfaces that encourage safe exploration and give children understandable, satisfying feedback.
• Apply thoughtful visual judgment to UI design, shaping layout, hierarchy, and interaction details to support clarity and ease of use.
• Design with parents in mind, helping ensure our products support trust, parental control, and transparency.
• Take part in child-focused playtesting with research and production partners, using observations to validate and improve UX decisions.
• Collaborate closely with design, art, and engineering partners to balance usability, visual style, and technical constraints.
• Advocate for clarity, accessibility, and simplicity in your work, helping ensure features and visuals support a positive, child-centric experience.
• Contribute to shared UX patterns and help improve consistency and quality across the product portfolio over time.

What we’re looking for

This is a mid-level individual contributor role. We’re looking for a confident UX designer who takes initiative, brings creative thinking to complex problems, and is comfortable leading UX work within a project or feature area. 

Experience designing for children is welcomed and supported. You will have opportunities to build your understanding of child development through research, playtesting, and close collaboration with experienced partners.

Must-haves

• 3+ years of experience in UX design, with a solid foundation in interaction design, usability, and visual judgment.
• Experience designing clear, intuitive interfaces for touch-first or mobile products, with attention to reducing cognitive load and supporting user understanding through interaction and feedback.
• Ability to explain your design decisions clearly and take feedback constructively.
• Proficiency with Figma, and familiarity with shared collaboration tools such as Miro.
• Ability to create clear UX artifacts, including user flows, wireframes, and annotated designs, that support implementation.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with engineers to understand constraints, edge cases, and how designs translate into shipped product.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing products for children, families, or educational contexts.
• Familiarity with child development concepts such as attention, literacy, and motor skill differences across ages.
• Awareness of accessibility, safety, or privacy considerations in digital products, including children’s products.
• Experience learning from playtesting or user research, especially with younger audiences.
