Job Description

About Mursion

Mursion provides an award-winning upskilling platform trusted by top companies to measurably improve employees' interpersonal intelligence and build stronger organizations. Powered by multimodal AI and a unique practice-based approach, our real-world, interactive simulations deliver lasting results. Our solutions are grounded in behavioral science and psychology to build confidence and positive behaviors, and ultimately help reduce the costs of stress. Mursion’s product suite includes AI-powered simulations, human reinforcement assessment & coaching, and advanced analytics that lead to measurable skills acquisition.

Mursion is a well-funded Series B startup that is backed by future of work and Edtech investing veterans, like Leeds Illuminate and New Markets Venture Partners. Mursion is the largest simulation company, with more than 800K+ simulations to date and more than 200K users per year, with a growing global footprint. By 2026, we will be delivering 2 million simulations per year.

Who We Want: We seek talented people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, who are inspired by our mission to leverage virtual reality technology to reinvent professional learning, and who are motivated to help Mursion become the premier global platform for virtual simulation training for behavioral skills. We value empathy, curiosity, and constant improvement both in our internal operations and when working with partners and clients. Our employees are most successful when they employ strong collaboration skills, skilled communications, a problem-solving orientation, and demonstrate comfort in an evolving and fast-paced startup environment.

About the Role

We're building AI systems that have natural and behaviorally realistic real-time conversations with people. As an AI Engineer on our team, you'll design and ship the production systems that power these experiences and own AI reliability, responsiveness, and quality.

You'll work at the intersection of speech, voice, behavior simulation, language models, and real-time infrastructure. This is hands-on engineering work: you'll own features from concept through production, collaborate with product and design partners, and make technical decisions that directly impact user experience.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship real-time conversational AI and content authoring features integrating speech, voice, gesture, and language models and shape systems that create rich and coherent experiences
  • Ship features that improve latency, stability, and conversation quality for measurable impact
  • Own production reliability: graceful degradation, monitoring, and error handling that makes systems trustworthy
  • Partner with product, design, subject matter experts, and researchers to translate learning and practice goals into AI behavior
  • Contribute to our AI platform infrastructure, including evaluation systems and deployment pipelines
  • Exercise curiosity and stay current about advances in simulation, voice, and AI technology, bringing promising approaches to the team when they fit

What We're Looking For

You should have:

  • 4+ years of experience building and deploying software in production environments
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Experience with real-time or streaming systems (you've thought carefully about system performance, scalability, and resilience)
  • Track record of shipping products that serve real users
  • Ability to work across the stack and the software lifecycle, from prototype to production
  • Clear communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teammates

You don't need:

  • A PhD or academic ML background
  • Experience training models from scratch
  • Expertise in every technology we use (the field moves fast; we expect learning)

Depth in an adjacent domain is a genuine plus. We value experience in areas that connect to our work, including:

  • Speech technologies, conversational AI, or real-time communication systems
  • Fullstack development or frontend engineering
  • LLMOps, infrastructure, or developer tooling
  • Education technology, learning science, or instructional design
  • Psychology, behavioral science, or human-computer interaction
  • Product engineering or design collaboration

We believe strong engineers come from many paths—what matters is your ability to learn, ship, and collaborate.
