As JumpCloud continues its rapid international growth, we are seeking a strategic leader to serve as the Director of Engineering, Cloud Platform. This is a critical high impact role where you will own the vision and execution of our global infrastructure and developer experience.
You will lead an organization of managers and Principal-level individual contributors, driving the strategy for our next-generation platform. Your mandate is to enable faster, higher quality, and more cost-efficient software delivery across the entire engineering organization.
What you’ll be doing:
Spearhead the strategic roadmap for global infrastructure, IDP adoption, and regional expansion.
Cultivate a world-class engineering organization, mentoring senior leaders to foster technical excellence and professional growth.
Direct the cloud financial strategy, optimizing unit economics and driving cost predictability via advanced governance.
Instill operational excellence by eliminating toil through strategic automation and AI-driven workflows.
Drive developer velocity by implementing practices and strategies that drastically reduce change lead time.
Orchestrate stack modernization to eliminate technical debt.
We’re looking for:
15+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years at the Director level or equivalent, managing managers and overseeing organizations of 20+ engineers.
Proven track record leading large-scale cloud operations (AWS or GCP) in a distributed, microservices or cell-based environment.
Demonstrated success in managing significant cloud budgets and driving cost-efficiency programs without sacrificing availability.
Ability to define long-term architectural visions (e.g., moving from monolith to decoupled services) and the leadership skills to rally the organization behind them.
You treat the Platform as a Product and focus on "Customer Satisfaction"
Familiarity with measuring success through metrics like DORA, Developer Satisfaction Scores, or service adoption rates.
Experience acting as an executive escalation point for major incidents, bringing calm and structured problem-solving to high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with multi-cloud strategies and global region build-outs.
Background in modernizing legacy infrastructure (e.g., migrating to Kubernetes, adopting OpenTofu/Terraform).
Experience with high-scale networking, traffic engineering, or edge computing strategies.
