Senior Shopify Developer - Health and Wellness (Remote)

Job Description

Stingray Direct is a health and wellness enterprise that builds vitality-conscious brands and generates products to increase consumers' quality of life. We seek a full-time Senior Shopify Developer to join our dynamic, close-knit team. This role is 100% remote (must be located within PST/MST time zones). In this role, you’ll have a unique opportunity to make a real impact as part of our growing Marketing Team.  You’ll be reporting directly to our Digital Marketing Manager, Tech Lead.

The Senior Shopify Developer is a key technical expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing Shopify eCommerce stores, performance-focused landing pages, and adverts, all while driving seamless consumer journeys and ensuring targeted KPIs are met. This role demands deep knowledge of Shopify’s architecture, Liquid templating language, and app integrations, coupled with a strong strategic focus on improving conversion rates and user experience to support the overall growth and scalability of the business.

Familiarity with the supplement industry is a significant advantage, enabling the developer to tailor mobile-first eCommerce solutions to industry-specific needs and customer buying behaviors.

The Senior Shopify Developer will mentor junior team members, collaborate cross-functionally, and proactively contribute innovative ideas and solutions to meet evolving business needs.

Requirements

Shopify Development & Customization

• Build and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.js or Vue.js.
• Develop and maintain custom Shopify apps and integrate third-party solutions using APIs, Webhooks, and platforms like ERPs, CRMs, and payment gateways.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with themes, apps, or integrations.
• Design and develop high-converting landing pages tailored to marketing campaigns and promotions.
• Ensure all pages are designed with a mobile-first approach and responsive, optimized for performance, and integrated with analytics tools.

E-commerce Performance Optimization

• Conduct regular site audits to identify performance issues and bottlenecks.
• Implement SEO best practices, accessibility standards, and mobile-first design principles.
• Optimize checkout processes, upsells, cross-sells, and subscription models to increase conversions and AOV.
• Leverage Shopify Plus features like Shopify Scripts and Flow for dynamic workflows and pricing rules.
• Support global commerce through multi-language and multi-currency solutions.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Establish and maintain rigorous testing protocols, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Ensure browser and device compatibility for all customizations.
• Regularly document testing procedures and results for reference and compliance.

User Experience (UX) and Interface Design (UI)

• Translate wireframes and concepts into user-friendly interfaces in collaboration with designers.
• Ensure brand consistency across all design and functionality elements.
• Develop personalized and interactive features to enhance customer engagement.
• Prioritize accessibility compliance to provide inclusive shopping experiences.

Mobile Optimization

• Implement mobile-first design principles to ensure seamless shopping experiences.
• Optimize mobile checkout flows for improved conversion rates.
• Stay updated on mobile commerce trends to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Integration and Automation

• Seamlessly integrate Shopify with backend systems and marketing platforms.
• Automate tasks like inventory syncing, customer communication, and order processing using Shopify Flow or custom scripts.
• Implement scalable solutions for multi-channel commerce, including social and marketplace integrations.

Analytics & Data-Driven Enhancements

• Use tools like Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics to monitor performance and user behavior.
• Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate updates’ impacts on KPIs.
• Provide actionable insights for improving product visibility, customer retention, and revenue growth.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on Shopify updates, emerging technologies, and eCommerce trends.
• Propose and implement innovative features, including AI-driven recommendations and voice-commerce tools.
• Pilot new technologies to maintain platform competitiveness.

Security & Compliance

• Implement security best practices, including regular updates, backups, and vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure compliance with global regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS).
• Develop contingency plans for data breaches, downtime, or system failures.

Leadership & Team Management

• Provide mentorship and training to junior developers and other team members.
• Bridge technical and non-technical teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of workflows, processes, and implementations.
• Partner with marketing, design, and operations teams to align technical development with strategic goals.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills

• Expertise with Shopify Liquid, Shopify platform, and Shopify Plus.
• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React.js or Vue.js.
• Experience with Shopify app development, third-party integrations, and APIs.
• Strong experience in integrating and managing industry-leading Shopify plug-ins, i.e. Klaviyo, Okendo, Yotpo, Recharge, Rebuy
• Expertise with page builders, i.e. Shogun, PageFly, GemPages, etc. 
• Strong knowledge of eCommerce SEO, performance optimization, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, VWO).
• Expertise with Shopify Scripts, Flow, and all advanced Shopify Plus features.
• Proficiency in version control tools (e.g., Git).
• Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in Shopify development, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Demonstrated track record with a portfolio of successful Shopify Plus implementations.
• Familiarity with global commerce requirements (multi-currency, multi-language).
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with headless commerce or progressive web apps (PWAs).
• Knowledge of AI-driven personalization and recommendation systems.
• Experience integrating advanced tools like ERPs, CRMs, and marketing automation systems.
• Certifications in Shopify development or related technologies.
