Job Description

The Valuations Data Science & Engineering team consists of data scientists with diverse educational backgrounds. The team is responsible for delivering state-of-the-art machine learning solutions and advanced analytics for all domains to support personalization and data-driven financial valuations at Wealthsimple. The team is staffed with seasoned data experts and well supported by product managers, software developers, and risk strategists.

We are hiring for a Senior Data Scientist for the Valuations DSE team. You will be responsible for building robust machine learning pipelines, conducting end to end experiments, and fortifying our data foundations. A successful candidate is able to blend expertise in experimental design, predictive modelling and software engineering while effectively communicating with stakeholders.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Going from 0 to 1 - Build and productionize machine learning models.

Design and execute product experiments to help improve Wealthsimple’s client experience.

Work with cross-functional teams within Growth, Product, Marketing, and Engineering.

Translate experimental results into products and solutionsSpearhead data modelling strategyEnsure models are well tested, documented and maintained.

Requirements:

Deep experience in building end-to-end productionized machine learning pipelines.

Deep experience in complex experimental design (A/B tests, factorial design).

Strong technical skills in coding (SQL & Python) and statistical methods.

Comfortable with data modelling and software engineering best practices such as dbt, unit testing and version control.

Extensive experience with machine learning feature engineering.

Results-driven: keeping things as simple as possible to achieve the product goals and ship new new products.

Curiosity: willing to dive deep into product strategies and business context.

Able to build and maintain multi-functional relationships with various teams across the business.

Experience working in the risk management domain is a plus
