Our Developer Experience team builds the tools and workflows that enables engineers at Attentive to build, test and deliver software efficiently and confidently. We focus on the inner-loop of development—the part of the engineering lifecycle before code is merged and deployed. While recent investments have centered on CI/CD and post-merge automation, the next evolution of DevEx is about empowering engineers earlier in their workflow: local development, testing environments, and AI-augmented coding and review tools.
You'll join a small, senior team of platform-minded engineers who are passionate about engineering excellence and eliminating friction across the company. If you like building tools for engineers, this is the place to make an outsized impact.
What You’ll Accomplish
Build and improve internal developer tooling that supports local development, testing, and pre-merge workflows
Partner closely with engineers across the org to understand friction points and deliver solutions that meaningfully improve their day-to-day productivity
Contribute to roadmap areas like AI-assisted workflows, developer guidance tooling, and deeper integration into the coding loop
Maintain and evolve TypeScript, Java, and occasional Python-based tooling
Uphold and evangelize engineering excellence across documentation, testing, DX standards, and platform reliability.
Your Expertise
A mid-level Software Engineer (typically 2–4+ years of experience) with a platform, infrastructure, or tooling mindset
Experienced with TypeScript and Java
Comfortable building and maintaining tooling, SDKs, CLIs, frameworks, or workflow automations rather than customer-facing services
Motivated by improving the productivity, efficiency, and happiness of other engineers
Strong collaborator who thrives in ambiguous problems and seeks out feedback from internal users
Passionate about high-quality engineering practices, including testing, reliability, and clear technical documentation
What We Use
Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, AirFlow, Postgres, and Redis, hosted via AWS
Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas
