TURNER, a full-service public relations and digital communications agency specializing in travel, outdoor, wellness, lifestyle, and spirits brands, is seeking a PR Account Executive with a passion for storytelling and media relations for the industries we serve. Candidates must have 3 to 6 years of media relations and influencer management experience with demonstrated results. Experience working in the travel and tourism industry preferred; this role is a remote position that must be based in South Carolina.

Specific Responsibilities May Include:

  • Supports daily activities for designated national and international accounts as part of a multi-person account team; client mix includes destination and hotel/resort properties   
  • Contributes 60 percent of time to proactive media relations and influencer programming
  • Plans, implements and manages client media tours and in-destination media visits
  • Assists with planning and conducting media familiarization tours. This may include international travel (passport required)
  • Executes both for-trade and paid influencer programs on behalf of clients, including sourcing, contracting, and reporting on programs
  • Understands and prioritizes the objectives of each client; anticipates needs in advance
  • Writes client collateral, which includes but is not limited to, news releases, media alerts, photo captions, media pitches, bios and fact sheets
  • Brainstorms new, fresh story angles and proactively pitches them to relevant media
  • Develops and maintains solid relationships with journalists and social media influencers
  • Stays updated on social media trends to provide recommendations to client about how social media channels can best be used
  • Assists with preparation of meeting agendas, notes and reports
  • Assists with account budgets, resources and deadlines
  • Assists with client relations through meetings, conference calls, events and general contact
  • Stay abreast of relevant industry news and trends
  • Acts as first set of eyes on materials prepared by JAE/AC

Qualifications

  • 3 to 6 years of communications experience in the travel industry; agency experience preferred
  • Has established national travel and lifestyle media relationships, and the skills to develop new relationships using traditional and digital tools
  • BA or BS in public relations, journalism, communications or related fields is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in AP Style
  • Previous experience coordinating media familiarization tours and/or desk side tours
  • Possesses excellent writing skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Uses social media tools regularly and has experience integrating social media into public relations programs
  • Proficiency using Cision, Muckrack, news wires, MS applications
  • A current passport and a willingness to travel as needed for clients
  • Passion for the travel/tourism industry and the ability to spot trends.

Salary range varies based on experience, $60,000-$70,000. TURNER is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
