About The Equity Alliance

The Equity Alliance is a Tennessee-based non-profit organization dedicated to building independent Black political and economic power. It is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that empowers and mobilizes Black people to participate in civic processes and advocates for equitable opportunities to improve their quality of life. Founded in 2016, the organization is led by Charlane Oliver and Tequila Johnson. The Equity Alliance focuses on voter education, outreach, and advocacy, providing resources like the Tennessee Voter Guide to expand the electorate and educate new voters. It engages in a variety of projects and programs aimed at enhancing democracy, promoting equity, and supporting Black communities statewide.
