Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER) is a pioneering private sector-led collaborative project focused on the restoration and conservation of ecologically important high conservation areas in Indonesia's Kampar Peninsula and Padang Island in the Province of Riau, Sumatra. Established in 2013, it is one of the largest privately funded ecosystem restoration projects in the country, supported by ecosystem restoration licenses and significant investment. RER employs a comprehensive model to protect, restore, and manage peatland forests, which includes forest protection, ecosystem assessment, restoration of native plant and wildlife species, and sustainable management. It plays a critical role in biodiversity conservation, carbon storage, and community engagement, promoting sustainable agriculture, forestry, and traditional livelihoods.
